I don't know my ring size, how can I work it out?

If possible visit a local jeweller (pop into my Corfe Mullen workshop!) and get measured by a professional jeweller as this is the most accurate option however you can use the following methods to find out your ring size at home.

Ring Sizer

To help measure your finger, you can purchase on of our ring sizers (Click here to purchase) or choose the 'Send me a free ring sizer' in the custom ring orders drop down ring size menu. Simply place the ring sizer over your finger, then pull the sizer until it fits snugly on your finger without being too tight. Make sure you can still slide the sizer over your knuckle, then use the black arrow to identify your own unique ring size against the measurements.

Or

Ring Sizer App

if you already have a ring that fits a finger you wish to purchase a ring for you can measure it with an app called 'Ring Sizer' put your ring on the circle to determine its size. Use the slider or the table to determine the right size of ring.

Or

The string method....

The sting method involves wrapping something around your finger and then measuring where the ends met on a ruler. Take some string or a piece of paper no wider than 1.4 cm. Wrap it around the base of your finger tightly and mark with a pen where one end of the string or paper meets the other. Then line the string or paper against a ruler and read off the measurement. Pop a note at the checkout with this measurement in mm for me to work out.

Can I visit the workshop in Corfe Mullen?

Yes, I work Mon-Thurs 10-4pm, however I can make appointments outside of this time too. Please message me to arrange a time and date for a visit. I have all current stock here and plenty of seaglass to you to choose from for a custom piece!

How do I care for my jewellery?

Why has my jewellery tarnish (Blackened)?

Jewellery can tarnish due to a number of reasons, silver turns black when kept in the air because it reacts with sulphur compounds present in the air. Tarnishing is not a fault in your product or the silver, its a natural occurrence.

Common causes of tarnishing are:

Moisture and humidity; avoid wearing your jewellery while sleeping and showering/bathing. Remove jewellery from bathrooms especially while showering!

Cosmetics and Suncream; these can contain zinc oxide and other chemicals resulting in tarnishing. Apply suncream, moisturisers and make-up making sure its absorbed before putting your jewellery on, this can reduce tarnishing but wont stop it.

Swimming and bathing; Chlorine reacts with copper within 925 sterling silver and results in tarnishing, remove all jewellery before swimming in chlorinated water.

Perfumes/Sprays; again these contain chemicals that can react with your silver. Spray perfume onto your skin allowing it to dry before wearing your jewellery.

Diet; some diets contain higher levels on sulphur compounds which are in your sweat this can react with the copper in the silver causing tarnishing. Avoid high sulphur foods such as eggs, garlic, seafood etc!

How can I remove/clean tarnished jewellery?

And where possible avoid the above, however I don't expect you to put your life on hold to keep your jewellery tarnish free and actually one of the best ways to keep your jewellery clean is to wear it as much as possible! But incase you need them here's a few handy tips to keep it clean and enjoy wearing it!!

A small amount of tarnish can be removed with a little mild dish soap in water, bath your jewellery for 30 mins, after gentle scrub with a soft tooth brush. Alternatively using a silver polishing cloth, I love the Town Talk cloths however there are plenty out there that do a great job!

Store you jewellery in an air tight box/jewellery box to limit exposure to humidity.
